Alice O'Brien, Content Strategist & User Experience consultant

Alice O’Brien has worked in management within the manufacturing and communications sectors for many years, in her native St. John’s and as of 1985 in Montreal. Inspired by the application of technology, in 1997 she chose to embark on the interactive communications road, working into the role as Director of Interactive Media at Mosaic Design. There she managed accounts and projects all kinds; from web sites for UNICEF Canada, Lumec, award winning CD-ROM presentations to Van Houtte’s first venture into e-commerce. It was at Mosaic that she teamed up with Ralph Spandl, a close collaboration that continues today.

In 2003 Alice ventured out on her own to form O-Media, a company focused on interactive media. Alice believes that Content is King and success happens when the right content is delivered to the target audience. Whether it’s as UX and functional team lead for the Laurentian Bank's transactional website, managing tight deadlines for the World Gold Council’s DVD presentation for the past 6 years, developing and managing the QA plan for McDonald’s international online training program in 10 languages, content strategy, UX and social media planning for PWL Capital or social networking sites with Fandom Entertainment, getting the content right from the users’ point-of-view is her top priority.

Alice’s strengths include her attention to detail and ability to organize information, manage teams, relationships and projects. She dedicates a great deal of effort testing and analysing the latest trends in technology, working diligently to ensure only the right media and techniques are applied for the right reasons. Her experience in judiciously applying the proven – not just trendy media and techniques – is a great asset to web site development.
