Ship hits the Bay Bridge
(November 7, 2007)

Early this morning a container ship hit the Bay Bridge - the bridge in this Blog's main image - which spans San Fransisco bay. Heavy fog is cited as the cause of the collision. Apparently only the ship suffered damage where it's bow struck one of the bridge's support towers. The ship is now anchored in the channel with some reports of it's leaking oil.

While not the most photographed bridge in SF, it is quite beautiful, not to mention a very important link in the city's transportation system.
