The client / agency dance: no free lunch here
(May 28, 2009)

Guaranteed to set anyone who’s ever done client management at a communications agency into a fit of laughter, here’s something that I picked up today from @avinashkaushik’s Twitter feed. It sent me into a fit of laugher, albeit relatively quietly in my office. I’ve since shared it with numerous colleagues and gotten immediate responses of giddy laughter in return.

Sadly, I’ve experienced every single one of the scenarios present. The teach us how to do it in-house, the let me try it out to see if it fits, I want the highlites but only want to pay for the trim, it’s all beef – hamburger or filet mignon.

Now I want to know how I can ensure that ALL my clients – present and future – see this. If you’re a current client reading this, you’ve probably said at least one of these... my guess, “we’ll make it up on the next one.”
